"No pressure of right and wrong…it’s a project for creativity to flow."
Participant, Barnet
It’s Your Move collects people at different stages of life, and invites them to each create a short dance about anything they choose.
From flamingos to tree felling, poetry to pottery, participants are supported to create from their point of inspiration, choreographing on two professional performers through a tailor made creative process. The project is a celebration of ‘now’ and of ‘us’, of what it means to be a human of a certain age, living in the UK. We’re often told the generations are divided, but It’s Your Move brings intergenerational voices together to consider if that’s true. Are there things old and young fundamentally disagree on, or is age simply just a number?
To date, we have worked with local people and partners in 5 locations; York, Birmingham, Barnet, Banbury and Bradford.

Reviews
It was so joyous… the performance celebrated ideas and contributions from such a diverse range of people in our community. I loved the different energies, inspirations and styles that come to fruition.

I was lucky enough to see the dance performed live and I'm happy to admit it brought tears to my eyes.
We can't wait to show it to family and friends. When I spoke to (my daughter) after the show she told me that it's hard for her to tell people her emotions but that the dance described her feelings perfectly.

I found it very moving. It once again confirms the power and beauty of the creative arts to express our life experience.
