We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded a commission from Right Up Our Street, Doncaster’s Creative People and Places programme.

This year is the 70th anniversary of V-E Day (the day World War II ended in Europe). As a tribute to the many street parties that spontaneously broke out across the country on V-E Day, we are working with the community in the Bentley area of Doncaster to plan and host our very own 1940s style party!

We are working with 2 groups in Bentley to create dance performances to be shared at the event, and are also working with local crafters, musicians, hairdressers and cake makers too. We’re also very excited to be creating a new short performance work, to be premiered at the party.

EVERYONE IS INVITED to come and join in the festivities at this FREE, family friendly event!

Date: Saturday 9th May 2015
Time: 11am – 4pm
Venue: Bentley Pavilion, Askern Road, DN5 0HU

There will be entertainment for children, families and adults alike.

Come and sing along to wartime classics, browse the stalls on offer, taste treats from the 1940s, learn dances and play games from the era, hear local wartime tales, or just enjoy the free tea and cake!

Fancy dress optional – Red, White and Blue or 1940s style, and there will be a fancy dress area on the day if you don’t already have your own gear.

Do you know anyone that remembers V-E Day, or has a story about it? Do you have any photographs of an original V-E Day party?
Would you like to get involved in organising the event, or contributing to the day in some way?

If so, we’d love to hear from you.
Just get in touch by emailing info@spiltmilkdance.co.uk, calling 07790 821181, or sending us a message on Facebook or Twitter.
