Call out for performance artists & companies of any discipline

Packed with passion, The Little Love Cabaret is scrapbook of real-life love stories collected from contributors aged 2 – 92. Ultimate heart throbs, full-on food obsessions, grand gestures of love and favourite days of the week combine in a heart-warming, fun-filled, and at times completely absurd cabaret reminding us of the lengths we will go to for the things we love.

Spiltmilk Dance are offering two Norfolk-based professional performing artists/companies an opportunity to create a brand new short piece of performance (8 minutes maximum), to be performed during The Little Love Cabaret at Downham Market Leisure Centre on Friday 23 September 2016.

Spiltmilk Dance are going out and about meeting people in the area and gathering their stories of love. Inspired by these tales, the company will create a love-themed cabaret, and they want some other brilliant artists to come and join in the fun!

Successful artists will be invited to respond to the stories gathered by the company, or incorporate love stories of their own in a short ‘act’ to be shared at the cabaret.

We are keen to hear from performance artists of any discipline. If you feel like this might be an interesting context for something you want to say or play with, then let us know. We are interested in artists who want to experiment with the theme of love; and surprise audiences with something fresh and fun.
Please note this will be a family friendly event so content needs to be suitable for all ages.

Selected artists will receive a fee of £250 to cover creation and performance of the work.

To apply, please send the following to info@spiltmilkdance.co.uk:
- An expression of interest (max. 500 words) with an outline of your previous experience and how you might approach making a performance for the cabaret event.
- Footage or images of some of your previous work

Deadline:
The deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday 16th September 2016 and all artists will be notified of the outcome of their application.

Feel free to get in touch on the email above or by calling 07790 821181 if you have any other questions.
