During the Easter holidays 2014, we worked with Nechells Education Action Zone to deliver 4 days of dance workshops as part of their holiday activities for young people at The POD.
We had a fantastic time teaching and creating with the groups inspired by the programme’s jungle theme.
We explored the animals and themes in the book Monkey Puzzle by Julia Donaldson with younger groups, while older groups created and performed a dance inspired by the vast canopy of trees found in jungles, and the hundreds of species of weird and wonderful insects that can be found within them.

Noran Flynn, Nechells Education Action Zone Director commented:

‘Children in the groups were from a variety of Primary schools from across Nechells and the workshop leaders were very skilled in breaking down barriers and encouraging mutual respect and trust.
We had lots of positive feedback, not only from the children but also from their parents and carers. Children were keen to share the new skills they had learned and were able to channel their energies into all the activities throughout the four days.

We would highly recommend Spiltmilk as an organisation as they were professional and thorough. They offered activities which were engaging and exciting and developed confidence and self esteem in our children. Their skills at working with a diverse range of children were exceptional but most of all our children had a fabulous time in the Spiltmilk workshops and were keen to join every workshop which I think is the best commendation.’
