Thank you to everyone that joined us for our V-E Day party in Bentley, Doncaster on Saturday 9th May 2015, as part of Right Up Our Street, Doncaster’s Creative People and Places project.

We had an amazing day and were ecstatic to be joined by over 700 members of the local community aged 0-95 for a day full of dancing, singing, games, fancy dress and tea and cake, all in honour of the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II.

We have had an amazing time working in Bentley, and owe so much to the generosity of local people, so thank you to everyone that helped make the event possible, including but not limited to those that performed on the day, baked cakes, helped knit and sew masses of bunting, and volunteered to paint faces, do hair and serve refreshments. It was a day we will never forget!

Here are some comments from attendees on the day:

‘What a fantastic event, atmosphere was brilliant. To see people of all ages mixing and having fun was brilliant.’

‘Wonderful day – very inclusive, professional and enjoyable.’
