The Spiltmilk Education programme has successfully taken the company’s innovative approach to dance making into schools and community settings and enabled participants to explore and challenge their own creativity.
We have extensive experience of delivering dance sessions in a range of learning environments for early years children right through to adults. We offer an education programme that can provide the following sessions as well as bespoke workshops.
Taster workshops: These can give participants a taste of the unique way we approach choreography. This can cater for all levels of ability and experience providing everyone with the opportunity to experience something new and inspiring.
Residencies: We can work intensively with a group allowing them to explore a subject in depth and culminate in a performance. The group also gain experience of working as part of a professional dance company.
Performance and Workshop Package: The company can come and perform our current piece ‘Spiltmilk Say Dance’ for a group and lead accompanying workshops providing further insight into the choreographic devices used in the creation of the work. The company can also develop a performance piece with workshop groups that can be presented as a ‘curtain raiser’ prior to a performance of the full work.
‘I have enjoyed every minute of it. Your work has really encouraged me to dance more often‘ (Jake, Year 5)
‘I found the build up from scratch very interesting and helpful. The whole session was fun and relaxed and informative. Thank you.‘ (Teacher at inset day, Tickton Primary School)
‘I’ve told the students and staff back at school that it is the best performance I’ve seen from any Firth Park students, since I’ve been at school. You’ve done a great job with them. It was clear they had a lot of respect for you in how they behaved and responded to you!’ (SSCo, Firth Park Community School)
Every Child Matters: Any Spiltmilk Dance session provides the opportunity for participants to enjoy being physically active in a fun and creative environment, in doing this we aim to help work towards the overall physical wellbeing for children that is encouraged through the government agenda: Every Child Matters.
